Core values AWARD

Deadline: February 20, 2026

The Core Value Award is to inspire nursing students to embody the beliefs that we, as constituents of NSNA, value.  Historically, the Core Values Award was a singular award given to an individual who represents and embodies the NSNA Core Values.  We are pleased to announce that we have added a top state and school winner recognition to the NSNA Core Values Awards.

Core Value Nursing Student Award
In order to be eligible to receive the singular Core Value nursing student award, the student must be nominated by a faculty or individual faculty advisor.  Each category of the Core Values will have a value of 0 – 10 based on the student's resume, including but not limited to involvement in the community, professional organizations, affiliation in NSNA, and advocacy for students or a cause.  Please include any data you feel would be pertinent to the NSNA Core Values to be considered.  Limit one student per school chapter can be nominated. One Winner is given to an NSNA Student Member.

Core Value School/State Award
In order to be eligible to receive the School/State Core Value award, the group must self-nominate their chapter.  Each category of the Core Values will have a value of 0 – 10 based on the chapter’s involvement in the community, professional organizations, affiliation in NSNA, and advocacy for students or a cause.  Please include any data you feel would be pertinent to the NSNA Core Values to be considered.

The following information is required for the award application:
  • Completed Online Application
  • Resume of the NSNA Student Member (Core Value Nursing Student Award ONLY)
  • Examples of the NSNA Student Member’s or state/school chapter work and  involvement in activities or advocacy that promote the NSNA Core Values

When submitting documents other than the Online Application, please combine all documents into a single PDF. The documents should be no more than 6 pages in total, including the resume and optional additional examples.

We ask that a letter of recommendation not to be included in the optional information, as the online application includes specific paragraph style questions related to the character of the student. The following questions will be asked on the online application (limit 100 words per question).
  • How does the student represent/embody the core value, ADVOCACY?
  • How does the student represent/embody the core value, PROFESSIONALISM?
  • How does the student represent/embody the core value, QUALITY EDUCATION?
  • How does the student represent/embody the core value, DIVERSITY?
  • How does the student represent/embody the core value, LEADERSHIP and AUTONOMY?
